Jen’s Daily Skincare Routine.

Greetings, my name is Jennifer Zrubek, I’m co-founder of Jlounge Natural Nail Bar and Spa. I’ve been an esthetician for more than 21 years. Over the years, I’ve seen all types of skin and worked through many challenges with my own skin as well as my clients. I’ve tried a variety of skin care products and tested many product lines including big name brands, clinical, prescription based, ‘natural’, ayurvedic blends, as well as experienced many different treatments and fads – yes, I’ve tried a few crazy things!

Clean, effective and all-natural skincare ingredients work!

I’ve learned from experience what works best for myself and my clients – clean, effective and all-natural skincare ingredients. I’ve read a lot of labels, tried dozens of different products and learned a lot about what ingredients I want to put on my skin and my clients, and what I don’t, and why. Non-toxic, non-harsh chemicals and safe ingredients are my top priority. This is why my business partner Julie and I developed JL ESSENCIALS skin care

JL ESSENCIALS is a botanical-based skincare line.

Each ingredient has been selected because of how it benefits the skin and improves one’s skin condition. It is possible to make active, effective, natural, clean products, that are non-toxic for all skin types. Although there are some good products out there, we wanted to develop a line that we felt provided the benefits and ingredients we trusted were actually all natural, organic, botanically and essential oil based and formulated with the best integrity in mind. 

*TIP* What you put in your body also impacts your skin. Your skin is your bodies largest organ! Therefore, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water, eating fruits, vegetables and essential vitamins as well as applying an effective sunscreen, and protecting your skin while out in the elements with proper clothing, hats and sunglasses.

Jen’s A.M. Skincare Routine:

I start by washing my face with JL ESSENCIALS Lavish Simply Cleanser, then spritz with our Balance Simply Lavender Mist Toner, apply 1 pump of our Balance Simply Serum with CBD and finish with Suntegrity Tinted Moisturizer with SPF. Make sure to start your day with a clean face and then protect!

I like to keep it simple.

*TIP* Got blemishes? Don’t pick at your skin. Use warm water and a clean wash cloth when cleansing, no finger nails to remove breakouts, or harsh chemicals. Choose products that help you accomplish your skincare goals, without being too abrasive or stripping your natural protective barrier.

*This is a great time to use the JL ESSENCIALS Glo Simply Resurfacing Beads. The jojoba beads, citric acid and gentle enzymes with topically help remove dead skin cells, dirt and oils which cause breakouts.

I get a lot of questions about how often to exfoliate. There are a couple different ways to exfoliate and they aren’t all the same. Typically one can exfoliate daily with something gentle like our Glo Simply Resurfacing Beads (or 3-5X times per week). Our enzyme exfoliation mask, Glo Simply with Prickly Pear & Pomegranate is great to leave on for 8-10 minutes and can be used 1-3x per week. It will leave your skin dewy, glowy and fresh like you’ve just had a facial!

Jen’s P.M. Skincare Routine:

Yes, it’s important to take care of your skin at night, too. It’s like brushing your teeth. You don’t want to go to sleep with the “day” still on your face. Oil, dirt and sebum can cause breakouts, and dirty skin can contribute to fine lines, cracks, wrinkles in the skin. 

Start with a good cleanser and wash your face (you can use the same one as the A.M.) 

I start by washing my face with JL ESSENCIALS Lavish Simply Cleanser, then spritz with our Rose Complete Hydration Mist, (It helps to hydrate and tighten pores), then use a pea size Rose Complete Repair Crème.

Nighttime is also an opportunity to ‘feed your skin’, so serums and more nutrient rich moisturizers are key. Apply our Glo Simply Line Erase Serum or Rose Complete Serum with CBD under your moisturizer for an added boost to your nighttime ritual. 

*TIP* Giving your face a little extra love on a regular basis has a big impact, too. Doing a mask such as our Glo Simply Hyaluronic Mask will hydrate your skin with hyaluronic acid and aloe. Sheet masks are great for a quick hydration boost before a big event or celebration. Homemade masks can also be beneficial because you know what’s in them. One of my favorites involves avocados, or bananas, oats and honey!

What is free radical damage?

This is caused by the sun, wind, pollution, elements where we live and what we put in our bodies. Use good, clean products to combat this, and nurture your skin to prevent pre-mature aging, and damage to your skin. 

To stay Zen:

I like to take a bath with Epsom salts, jojoba oil, and a candle. I use the JL ESSENCIALS Calendula Calm after on my neck, chest and feet before bed, and take several drops of the JL ESSENCIALS Peppermint Zen Full-Spectrum Tincture under my tongue to relax and unwind.
