Our Story

As spa owners, we want what’s best for our customers. Over the years, our guests would come to us to treat skin conditions they’d struggled with for a long time. And we noticed a pattern. When we replaced harsh and irritating chemicals with simple plant-based ingredients in their skincare routines, their skin would improve and become vibrant. We made a commitment to create only clean, natural skincare with organic ingredients for our spa, our families, and ourselves. Today we offer our products to you: skincare you can trust to give you PURE. SIMPLE. BEAUTY.

Our Mission

Your skin is complicated, but your skincare shouldn’t be. At JL ESSENCIALS, we believe that beauty products don’t need to be filled with harsh chemicals to be effective; they should instead be simple, gentle, and safe. So we focus on restoring and maintaining the natural balance of healthy skin, blending pure botanicals and organic ingredients into products that leave skin feeling and looking healthy and vitalized. We want you to trust your skincare, love your skin, and feel nurtured by nature.

Julie Perington

Co-Founder

A West Coast native with a passion for skiing, Julie decided to move from Chicago to Boulder with her two children. She chose Colorado because of her strong college ties and the quality of life she could provide as a fresh start for her family.

Julie spent 25 years in the hospitality industry, and 15 of those years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Inc. in various guest service and sales and marketing executive-level positions. Always a committed spa and natural-skincare junkie, she knew she could bring outstanding customer service to a different industry—and one that she loves!

In her free time, Julie enjoys, not in any particular order, skiing, cycling, travel, food, friends, family, and of course… spa visits of any kind!

Jennifer Zrubek

Co-Founder

Jennifer has always had a passion for natural and organic skin care products, and started getting facials in her early 20s after moving to Colorado. Realizing that the climate in Boulder can be harsh, she decided that taking care of her skin needed to be top of mind. Jennifer has 20+ years of experience as an esthetician and business owner. She prides herself on quality services, and dedication to her clients through her commitment to natural products and treatments. Jlounge has fulfilled her longtime goal of expanding and growing her business into a full-service spa, and now skin care line, JLessencials.

Jennifer has raised her 2 boys, Jackson and Caden, in Boulder. In her free time, she enjoys travel, hiking with her dog Skyler, biking, yoga, and spending quality time with friends and family.
